A Letter From Carl Drew:

Hello to all my supporters.

I thank you all.

My name is Carl Drew. I have been incarcerated since the age of 26. I am now a 69-year-old man. This case started back in 1980. I was wrongfully convicted of first-degree murder. Sentenced to life without possibility of parole for something I had no knowledge of or involvement in. To this day I am still fighting, searching for justice. Justice has always been denied due to a criminal justice system and its need to protect its own over that of the innocent.

I have learned through my tenure, one of the hardest things about dealing with a wrongful conviction is sticking to one’s guns. Continuing to insist one is truly innocent and trying to get other people to believe and to help fight against one’s wrongful conviction. As of the date I am writing this I am going into my 45th year of wrongful incarceration. This has become my life. This is the battle I fight every day.

It is my spirit and my strong will that will not allow me to give in or give up in the fight to prove my innocence and regain my freedom. Over the years, I have seen so many inmates get depressed and just give up. I do have to add, there are very few Americans that do pay attention to what really goes on with in our criminal justice system.

Society is ignorant of the true workings of our criminal justice system. The lack of interest is so genuinely overwhelming. That is, until they find themselves or that of a loved one, become caught up within it. Such is the case with me and my family as well as those who have helped me over these past years. We have all come to know the true blindness of justice. Especially those, such as I, who do not have the power of money or someone who holds a position of influence. That’s when the dose of reality sets in. Without the privilege of money or the power to influence, justice within our legal system is blind, no matter what the truth.

Those of us who have spent time within prison walls know this to be no myth. We have learned that there is no fix for a system that has double standards that are based on wealth and power. People don’t like to hear this, much less accept it. But let’s admit it, look at today’s media. Look at cases such as Karen Reed. Our media portrays it daily. Our legal system is not above convicting and controlling the innocent. Where the influential and wealthy are innocent until proven guilty, for the underprivileged, the poor, people such as me are unfortunately guilty until proven innocent. Our constitution states justice should be equal for all. Convictions should be based on factual testimonies, science, DNA evidence. The truth.

The media has the power to control public opinion. We trust the media to tell us the facts. When it comes to the justice system, they are portrayed as fair and just. The system is open and honest. For the rich and powerful, their money and influence makes their side of the story become reality, whether true or not. The reality is, for the poor false allegations are enough for one to be convicted and put away. For me, in the eyes of the media I was guilty before the legal process could even get started.

Society needs to know there are thousands of innocent men and women, like me, confined within cold prison walls. Isolated from society, from friends, family, and those we love. We have no voices. No one to talk with. Even worse, there’s no one to candidly listen to us.

It’s so hard to maintain the hope for justice. For most, it becomes hard to find the will to keep on fighting for the truth. We are fighting a criminal justice system that refuses to deal with the truth. As the years pass, the desire to give up on what seems to be a no-win fight creeps in. When you are one person, alone, up against the power and the wealth of the government. They have unlimited resources, and they are determined to keep a guilty verdict as a guilty verdict, regardless of how it was obtained. They would rather sacrifice the life of an innocent than admit they got it wrong.

Sadly enough, for many years I have seen so many inmates within the Massachusetts Prison system take their own lives. They had lost the will within themselves to fight without ever having the truth of the injustices within their cases revealed. The logic, why keep fighting the injustices handed down by our legal system? You’re fighting a losing battle. Every time one of us gives up, we only give more power to evil, lies, deception, oppression, hate and injustices.

There are so many of us. I must say, myself, that there has been a strong lure to give into self-pity over the years. Every time a court denies me an appeal, every time they refuse to address my innocence. The ascent out of the darkness becomes less visible with each and every rejection. Evil deplores letting good out of its clutches. But my spirit has a spark that will not be extinguished. I have a way of turning up like a bad penny. I will never give up the fight. To give up would be selfish. To give in would be to let down my loved ones, my friends, and my family. Not to mention, it would be to give up and let down every person who has suffered a wrongful conviction. I will not allow myself to die an innocent man in a prison cell.

When you get down to it, will a lot of us die in prison for crimes which we didn’t commit? Unfortunately, the answer to this question would be yes. I know I am not the only one wrongfully suffering in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Anyone who has been following this case over the years can see just how messed up it is. It is not based on facts. This case was based on hearsay, not a shred of physical evidence. This case was made up by rogue prosecutors and rogue detectives. If you are not familiar with my case, as you go through this website and listen to my podcast, you will come to understand what I mean. This case was put together by false confessions and perjured testimony. You will see that all the so-called witnesses later recanted their testimonies, even the states star witness, Robin Murphy. Not only did she come right out and say she lied about me, but also that it was these rogue prosecutors and rogue detectives that made her lie about this whole case!

I would also like all of you to know I would not make any type of accusation about these people without having the paperwork to back it up. Aside from this website, you can visit my YouTube channel “Drew-Tube, or better yet my Facebook page “Justice for Carl Drew” for more information. I also have an Instagram account, TikTok and Twitter that should be up and running soon.

I know that people must be wondering how it is that I have the time to have all this up and running from behind prison walls. Well, I do have a couple of people that are trying to help me regain my freedom. They are two of the most beautiful people I know. They have both gone above and beyond, taking time out of their own lives to help me get to the truth of this case. So that people may know the real truth. Without these two people we would not have the new evidence we have.

It blows my mind that it took these two people to find this hidden information. It just goes to show how these rogue DA’s and rogue attorneys get away with so much. If not for my friend Michael Campeau, I don’t think I ever would have known about any of this evidence. Bless him for his heart and all the time and hard work he has dedicated to researching this case.

The same goes for my other dear friend. She has a beautiful heart and soul with a warrior’s spirit. I am proud to call her my friend. Between her petition, our podcast, and the start of this website she has been a true blessing to me, and she is the one and only Tiffany Dearing.

I know that it is hard for people to step up and help someone they don’t even know, but I do have to say, people like me really do need your help. I know that most people would say that this could never happen to them or someone within their family. I have to say you are looking with blind eyes at your justice system because within the blink of an eye, it could happen to you or someone you know. I can only help that someone will be there to step up and help you in your time of need.

I have lived more of my life in prison than I have in the free world. Put away for a crime I had nothing to do with. I lost my life due to lies, manipulations, and false testimonies. I don’t know how someone could live with themselves knowing their corruption put an innocent man away for life. They are the true evil in this case.

In closing, I would like to take this time to thank each one of you who took the time to visit this website and read my story. Like I have said, I know I am not the only wrongful conviction within the Commonwealth. I know it is a difficult thing to step up and help those in need, but I ask you to please consider standing up to help out people like me, who do truly need your help.
